The Planning Application for this project was for the erection of an outbuilding under Class E of the General Permitted Development Order (GDPO).

Class E refers to two different concepts under the General Permitted Development Order (GPDO): the “Commercial, Business and Service” use class and the “Buildings etc. incidental to the enjoyment of a dwellinghouse” class for residential properties.
Use Class E is a new category for a wide range of commercial, business, and service uses like shops, offices, restaurants, and gyms, allowing for easier changes between these uses in England without needing planning permission. Permitted Development Class E (Part 1, Schedule 2) relates to building outbuildings on a residential property, such as pools or sheds, but with restrictions on size and location.
