Pre-Application discussions with the Planning Officer’s resulted in agreement to the principle of 3 dwellings on the site in a traditional ‘barn style’ design. The scale and bulk of the buildings were designed to propose single storey dwellings with varying ridge heights, together with garaging. Throughout the process of design emphasis was placed on the improvements to the site that could be gained from an attractive scheme that retained the openness of the Green Belt.

Proposals for new dwellings in the Green Belt are notoriously difficult permissions to obtain, especially at local level. The presentation of the case was key to our argument that the proposal would improve the site and increase the openness of the Green Belt, whilst at the same time respecting the setting within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
