Project Outline

For this Award-Winning project, WS Planning & Architecture were tasked with providing planning advice and assistance through the submission of these applications aswell as speaking at Tunbridge Wells Planning Committee and subsequently at Wealden Planning Committee. The contemporary detached apartment building, designed by OB Architecture, comprised 9 apartments.
The recently completed development also won What House Best Apartment Scheme 2022 which is a fantastic achievement for Reigate Land Ltd who developed the site.
We were previously involved in the planning approval on the same site for a detached dwelling. By using the topography of the site, the building sits behind the landscape, therefore does not negatively impact the amenity of neighbouring properties. Additionally, the location of the proposal ensures it does not affect the appearance of Ashdown Forest. WS Planning & Architecture were pleased to assist in the planning process for this innovative design.

COMMENTS

Achieving planning permission for this dwelling was a great success, due to the contemporary design and site constraints. The application site sat mainly within Tunbridge Wells District, however a small section of the site also sat within Wealden District. This means that the application is submitted to both Authorities for determination adding complexity to the planning process and ultimately requiring us to speak in support of the proposal at two separate Committee Meetings.
