COMMENTS

Private equestrian projects are often closely located to an existing dwelling. Councils are less likely to permit new stables or sand schools in remote locations. In this case the associated dwelling was Grade II Listed which added to the level of policy control. In this case Surrey County Council’s Historic Building Officer agreed with our assessment that the sand school was at sufficient distance and relationship to the listed building that it would not affect the special architectural interest of the building subject to their being no external illumination.
