The client wanted to extend the living space to accommodate a single storey side extension and loft conversion. This would provide a double bedroom with a master suite, two bathrooms a dressing room and a living space. Dormers were planned to give additional head space and offer views over the Surrey Hills.

The site is in a Residential Area of Special Character RASC, which can at times be tricky and careful preparation is needed for applications.

RASC is a local planning designation for low-density housing areas that have a unique and cohesive character, typically featuring homes on large plots, set back from the street, with extensive landscaping. The purpose of RASC is to protect these areas from development that could harm their distinctiveness by requiring new development to be sympathetic to the existing features like large plots, established gardens, and trees.
