The Planning and Architecture team gained permission for the demolition of an existing large property to make way for the construction of new dwelling with associated garage and landscaping.
The proposed design sits in a large plot in the desirable Surrey village of Kingswood. It boasts five en-suite bedrooms and four reception rooms across two storeys with storage in the attic space.
The site is within a Residential Area of Special Character (RASC) where the houses are large and occupy large plots, mostly built in the Arts and Crafts Style. It has been in place in the borough since 1989. Its objective is to ensure that specific development patterns and features considered to be integral to the character of the borough are preserved in order to contribute to the maintenance of ‘sense of place’. RASC designations are specific residential areas recognised for their wide plots set back from the road dominated by leafiness and mature vegetation (landscapes).

Proposing development in RASCs can be tricky, especially if the existing building is of architectural merit.
