Twyford Avenue in Ealing, London
OUR INVOLVEMENT
Project Outline
Following planning permission from one of our close developer clients, WS were appointed to carry out stages 4-7 of the RIBA Plan of work.
The project represented a few challenges as it was within the Creffield Conservation Area and the site was set back from the main building line approximately 30m away connected via a small Right of Way.
The two-bedroom house was sensitively designed to blend with the neighbouring properties, an interesting palette of materials were proposed comprising decorative brickwork with suburban character and Edwardian features. It was intended to avoid a pastiche replication, instead the design stand in its own merits and provide an interesting punctuation to the conservation area. Yellow brick and contrasting red/orange brick plinth defines the character along with a natural slate roof with orange ridge tiles.

OUTCOME
COMMENTS
A nice precedent that highlights the value in appointing an architect through the various stages of the RIBA plan of work. Good communication between contractor, WS and consultant’s meant the project run smoothly and on time.
