Project Outline

Planning permission was originally granted for the conversion of a barn in commercial use to 2 residential properties. Due to the condition of the building it was deemed preferable to replace the building rather than proceed with the conversion.

WS Planning & Architecture handled the revised application and building regulations and conditions submissions for the proposed pair of dwellings.

The dwellings have been finished to a very high standard using reclaimed beams from the original building and a high quality palette of materials.

COMMENTS

Barn conversions present exciting opportunities to unlock the potential in former agricultural or commercial buildings. They extend the life of buildings and can provide a useful way of preserving the past for future generations. The condition of buildings invariably means that the conversion process is very difficult particularly when working with listed buildings. Early advice from Structural Engineers as well as our highly skilled Architectural team can identify constraints at an early stage in the process which can save time and money further down the line.
