Outsourced Householder Application Contract
OUR INVOLVEMENT
Project Outline
Between February 2022 and February 2023 WS Planning & Architecture assisted with the determination of 245 Householder Applications for Epsom & Ewell Borough Council. Following this, WS Planning & Architecture were instructed to assist with the determination of a further 100 Householder Applications between July 2023 and January 2024.
As part of this work, Planners at WS Planning & Architecture undertook the site visit for these applications, drafted the Officers’ Reports and uploaded their recommendations onto the Councils IDOX and Uniform portals which were then reviewed and signed off by Planning Officers at the Council.
During these contracts, WS dealt with a variety of different householder applications, many of which had complex site constraints. These constraints included extensions in the Green Belt, extensions and alterations to dwellings within various Conservation Areas as well as works to Listed Buildings. Other constraints also included proposals located within Flood Zones and sites with TPO’d trees on site within close proximity of the proposed development. Therefore, as part of this work, we liaised with the Council’s internal and external consultees to inform their recommendations.
This experience has been extremely insightful as we have assisted with the determination of 345 Householder Planning Applications over the two-year period. As such, it has provided the Planners at WS with a well-rounded understanding of how Councils work to determine planning applications.
