OUR INVOLVEMENT

Architecture

Project Outline

The Architecture team was consulted to draw up plans for replacement signage for a taxi firm in the centre of Redhill. The signage would front a listed building within a Conservation Area, so the design had to be sensitive and detailed.

OUTCOME

Conditional approval at Local Level

COMMENTS

Planning permissions are more likely to be refused when it comes to Listed Buildings or Conservation Areas because of the increase in policy restrictions, and if the proposal does not consider factors of design to be in-keeping and sensitive, the Local Planning Authority are well within their rights to refuse the proposal. The purpose of listing a building or creating a Conservation Area is to protect what exists there and preserve the historical, traditional architectural quirks for the future- anything seem to harm or detract from this is likely to be refused.
