Change of use of former poultry unit to form riding club, livery and external sand school in Mid Sussex District

OUR INVOLVEMENT

Planning & Architecture

Project Outline

Our Planning & Architectural Teams advised and supported the applicants through the planning process. The application site was located in the countryside on land adjoining a local school. There were a number of local residents concerned about the use which meant that the application needed to cover a number of sensitive issues. We also spoke at Planning Committee on behalf of the applicants and secured planning permission at local level without the need for an appeal.

COMMENTS

Commercial uses have a number of issues that need to be addressed especially when in close proximity to residential uses. It is important to clearly identify the number of staff working at the yard along with the traffic implications of the proposal. Council’s will usually apply a number of Planning Conditions to ensure strict timing and ensure neighbour amenity is respected.
