After graduating from The University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) degree in architecture in the summer of 2026, I joined the Architectural Team in the Reigate office of WS Planning & Architecture as Architectural Assistant (Part1).
During my time at university, I had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of projects, from small scale community proposals to large multi-residence developments. These experiences led me to develop a particular interest in sustainable architecture approaches, such as adaptive reuse, while also gaining experience in visual communication techniques, including the integration of physical and digital media through hand drawing, digital modelling, and rendering.
In my final year, my dissertation looked at the philosophy of water in architecture, exploring the works of Scarpa and Siza through their consideration of water as more than a visual component of design. During this process, I developed a more contemplative approach towards architecture and design, which has been beneficial for my continued learning and explorations, both into the discipline and beyond.
Additionally, I carried out a structural design project in my final year, looking at the use of a timber frame to restore a pair of historic warehouses for the use of a local charity. This process allowed me to develop a greater understanding the structure of a building, and I am currently building on these technical skills in practice.
I am looking forward to continuing to develop my skills in 3D software and technical design, while also taking the opportunity to learn about the planning process.
