Maria joined WSPA in August 2025 as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant.
She finished her RIBA Part 1 BSc(Hons) Architecture Degree at the University of East London in 2014. During her studies, Maria travelled across Europe discovering Spain, Portugal, Italy and Russia where she studied their specific architectural heritage, which she is interested to draw inspiration from for her designs.
After graduation Maria went on to work for architectural practices in Surrey, Kent and London where she gained invaluable experience working alongside likeminded professionals.
She is enrolled on the RIBA Part 2 Studio Diploma Course at Oxford Brookes University where she is passionate about biophilic and sustainable architecture. She has a particular interest in architectural areas that brings people closer to natural settings, and which breaks free from the urban context. Maria has a keen interest in proposing architectural interventions that mimic organic forms, employ natural materials, enhance an exploration of our innate senses and celebrate community engagement. She draws her inspiration from the works of Peter Zumthor, Geoffrey Bawa and Frank Lloyd Wright.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading, travelling, sketching and playing the guitar. She is also keen on fitness, especially jogging.
Maria believes that architecture is inspired by all aspects of life, and she is keen to learn and enrich her knowledge. She looks forward to becoming a fully qualified architect.
