Senior Architectural Technologist

Joined WS in September 2021

Leo joined WS as Senior Architectural Technologist, leading on the Practice’s delivery of Stage 4 architectural Technical Design (Building Regulations) of our Four Stage Planning & Design Process. He will also bring his considerable experience of construction Contract Administration to assist our clients through Stage 5 – Manufacturing and Construction and Stage 6 – Handover of the RIBA Plan of Work.

Leo was architecturally trained in Nigeria where he attained BSc and MSc honours degrees in architecture. He initially started work in the UK as an architectural assistant before moving into architectural technology and construction management. Leo was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Management from London South Bank University in 2001 and was admitted as an Associate to the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists in 2006.

Leo worked for a number of architectural practices in Central London between 1991 and 2010. In the previous 10 years to joining WS he worked for London-based Chartered Surveyors and Project Managers, Adelaide Jones, where he successfully established the in-house architectural consultancy team, as part of the building consultancy department, which included construction and project management, working mostly on high-end bespoke residential and mixed-use projects in Central London.

Leo advised clients on their requirements and best procurement routes and led the development and co-ordination of design information covering all RIBA plan of work stages, including bespoke Technical Design details to suit individual projects. His experience covers residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, as well as design collaborations in Africa. Leo has vast experience in project management; coordinating & managing design information between the project team, contractors, clients, Building Control and other statutory bodies; managing scope and budget for works and general Contract Administration.

His role previously, and now with WS, includes co-ordination of design information between project team, consultants, contractors and other external bodies; ensuring Building Regulations, statutory authorities & CDM compliance; project management of works to meet cost, quality, and project timescales/deadlines; managing the scope and budget for works; chairing regular construction Contract progress meetings; preparing construction progress reports and general Contract Administration; collation of Pre-construction information, Construction Phase Plans and CDM Health & Safety files.

Leo enjoys travelling, appreciating historic and modern architecture around the world, country walking and mountain biking. He is a member of the Old Caterhamians Rugby Club Caterham and is a keen Arsenal fan.
