Project Outline

The site comprises a former residential dwelling, proposed to be used by Cornfield School, a feeder school for “Looked After” girls from Cornerways Chidren’s Services’ residential homes. Since 2006, Cornfield School has been admitting day pupils, originally as a response to individual parents of locally excluded or vulnerable girls who are unable to manage in mainstream schools, mixed schools or boy-dominated Pupil Referral Units or Special Schools. In their previous location, Cornfield School were able to serve 25 day students, many of which have special needs. Cornfield School were eager to relocate to Burstow Park House to increase the number of day students able to attend.

Outcome

Planning permission was obtained in 2019 and the conditions application is currently in progress. Once the conditions application is signed off, the School will be able to occupy the property, ready for the start of the new academic year in September 2020.

Comments

WS Planning & Architecture advised from the outset of the project through the Pre-Application Enquiry to the handling of the Planning Application and the Conditions Application. We are excited to see how Cornfield School will prosper at their new site.
