6 floodlights for an external menage at a Riding School and livery yard in Mid Sussex District

OUR INVOLVEMENT

Planning & Architecture

Project Outline

Our Planning & Architectural Teams advised and supported the applicants through the planning process. The application site was located in the countryside on land adjoining a local school and followed a previous application for a change of use to riding school and livery yard. We supported the application with technical details provided by the manufacturer. It is important to ensure that the flood lighting is designed within the minimum level of light spillage to ensure the proposal does not impact on adjoining occupiers. We also spoke at Planning Committee on behalf of the applicants and secured planning permission at local level.

COMMENTS

Commercial uses have a number of issues that need to be addressed especially when in close proximity to residential uses. It is essential to seek technical support regarding light spillage and the floodlight manufacturer should be able to provide this information. Council’s will used Planning conditions to control the hours of operation under floodlights.
