Project Outline

Following a successful two storey side extension in 2000 the Theatre identified the backstage area as the next critical area of the Theatre that needed addressing. While it is important for the front of house to accommodate patrons it is equally important for the players to have appropriate backstage facilities to ensure the best possible performance. It was vitally important to ensure that a number of changing rooms were provided alongside separate male and female toilet facilities to ensure compliance with modern standards.

OUTCOME

Planning permission was obtained in 2014 and following the latest round of funding for the project the building regulations drawings have been prepared in house working with external structural engineer, Bew Engineering. Conditional approval was granted in April 2015 for the building regulations allowing the project to move onto the next phase.

COMMENTS

Working on local community projects is vitally important for WS Planning & Architecture. As keen supporters of the Arts we are very excited about this project and look forward to the build phase with a view to testing the facility when it is up and running.
